Balcony Garden

I have tried to maximize the area of soil in my balcony garden, so that it is still possible to hang out there πŸ˜€ I have gathered many kinds of containers for growing chives as much as possible (with dill and parsley). Chives are easy to grow and they are delicious! It is nice to grab a bunch of chives and eat it over a bread for example. It’s also a good herb for cooking, like dill and parsley. Although dill is THE herb for cooking fish and crayfish. Parsley is maybe a more general herb for cooking and can be added here and there. Only chives are good at raw imo.

I just cleaned my balcony after the winter and then planted the seeds πŸ™‚ Currently my balcony garden is quite bare, but after a while it should be nicely green! I hope that I will remember to water my plants! That’s a common problem to me and I have dreamed about an embedded system which could take care of this. After the “undergrowth” has grown the evaporation of water isn’t so big deal anymore, but at the beginning the watering rate is critical, when the soils are bare.

Here are some photos from my balcony garden. Maybe I add some greener photos afterwards πŸ™‚

This container has taken a head start. There are chives still growing from the previous years. That’s why I like chives, because they can even survive over winters! I believe that if I divide this “clone” to other equally big containers, maybe in coming springs I don’t need seeds anymore. This container could also be greener if it is protected from the ground frost. Maybe I really should divide this clone, gather all the containers together during fall and then cover them with a thick blanket or something? Then finally cover the whole pile with snow and during next spring see what has been left after the winter πŸ˜€

A couple of heads of perch hanging in my balcony.

These heads of perch are from my favorite free-diving lake which lies at the Tampere region. They are already several years old and the bigger one weighted almost 0.5kg. Yes, in Finland fish aren’t so big. But maybe that’s why Finns are accurate with harpoons πŸ˜‰
