During the last weekend I did some work stuff as I waited for calmer, colder, better days for hunting grouse. Then, from Tuesday evening till Thursday I hiked alone in a forest. I managed to aim a couple of hazel grouse with my Winchester, but the carefully adjusted sights were displaced why I missed the birds! I temporarily realigned and locked the sights with a duct tape, but didn’t saw any other game during that trip. At home I thought that I have played enough with the sights, why I glued them where they belong 😀 so, during the couple of previous trips I have not catch anything, expect many mesmerizing photos!
The first night and a couple of satellites.
Morning frost.
A mosquito larva is trapped under the ice and cannot get to surface. Mother Nature is ruthless.
I was searching a high place for the coming night, where I could look at far northern sky. I wanted to see some auroras, why I climbed over this hill to see, is there any good place for a new camp.
Yep, this place looks promising. Better to go and move my camp before the night comes.
Oh, an ice bow.
As I returned to my old camp, I saw a couple hazel grouse. I missed them because my rifle sights were displaced, why I realigned them and secured temporarily with a tape.
Yes, the sights and the barrel points at the same spot. Now I need to quickly collect my camp and go back to the hill.
Evening sun. Somewhere over a horizon, the coming night encloses hills and valleys in its silent darkness.
I’m going to stay here.
A dim aurora and one shooting star.
See the beautiful Big Dipper, my guide in the night. 🙂
Time to go to sleep. I woke up a couple of times during the night to see the auroras. Once something bright shed light on my tent and the ground. It lasted for only a second and it didn’t make any sound. During the night I saw many shooting stars, and I think that something dropped really close to my tent in the middle of the night. 🙂
The golden morning reveals new adventures. 🙂
Food, at last!
Waking up after a daydream. I didn’t catch anything during the trip, but now it is time to go home.
At home I once again adjusted the sights by looking a spot through the barrel.
Then I glued the front and the rear sights in their places. No more missed grouse next time.
